A performance installation that explores the relationship between the inhabitants of Christchurch, New Zealand, and the history of the land on which they live. Audience are led by actors/tour-guides into an installation presuming to be the house of a family of cartographers. The house is full of animation - talking portraits, phones that ring to tell a story, live puppet plays. Suddenly the owner of the house comes home, and the tour guides invite the audience to follow her and her story... This work was commissioned by The Christchurch Arts Festival 2001 for performance in The Great Hall. |
