Animating Graffiti - 2007
As an artist in the artist in residence programme at the Christchurch Arts Centre, New Zealand, I worked with local graffiti artists to produce seven video animations designed specifically for projecting on building exteriors in and around the Arts Centre. Subject matter and theme for the animations were inspired by the architecture and history of the buildings, which were built as Canterbury's first University and is now Christchurch's current arts and cultural centre. The projections were screened simultaneously for three nights over one weekend, as well as on later occasions.
"It makes you stop and look at space, it stops you in your tracks, it makes you look at it, and you look at the surrounding architecture and buildings that on a normal day you'd wander past and just ignore" - Adam Hayward. |
